COVID 19 has thrown the global travel industry into turmoil. Plexus takes a look at what post-pandemic travel is likely to look like.



Entitled 'Reset, Recover and Rise The Post-Pandemic Travel Transformation', the team at Plexus have put together a great analytical report that highlights the current and likely future impact, COVID 19 has had on the travel industry.


There are some great take out's right across the report.


The emergence of new passenger demographics such as the BLeisure Traveller (one of three mentioned in the report), someone who mixes both business and leisure on trips, is likely to become more prevalent.


The team also emphasise some of the rapid changes that are happening in the consumer journey when travelling.


Technology is a key part of that, in particular regards to a touchless experience in airports, which opens up new opportunities for brands seeking to target consumers.


Likewise, the combination of COVID related physical opportunities (e.g. hand sanitiser units) to mobile and touchless screens is also opening many new opportunities.


A significant section of the report, stresses the importance of green credentials and sustainability.


It sets out how they have become more important to consumers and how brands need to understand how these issues will impact on the travel industry in the future.


Similarly, the report outlines the major changes that have and will occur to global travel post COVID 19, including changes in peak travel times and eco-destinations becoming more popular.


It will be interesting to observe how some of the elements highlighted in the report develop.


What is clear and resounding in this valuable insight, is that people want to travel again.....we at Screen Weave could not agree with them more.
